AWB is an essential document raised by an air line. It contains the description of godos to be shipped by air, place of delivery and consignee.

 

 

Notice of arrival

 

 It is a notification that the Freight Forwarder or carrier sends to the consignee when the cargo has arrived to its destination.

 

 

BAF

 

“Bunker Adjustment Factor' is a detailed surcharge of fuel.

 

 

Bill of Lading

 

BOL or B/L is an essential document issued by a carrier company. The B/L contains the description of godos to be shipped by ocean, place of delivery and consignee.

 

 

Bonded Warehouse

 

It is awarehouse authorized by Hacienda/ Mexican Customs to stored godos until the freight is cleared under other name.

 

 

CAF

 

“Currency Adjustment Factor' is a surcharge that covers currency Exchange fluctuations.

 

 

Carrier

 

Carrier is a person or company commited to the business of  passengers or freight transportation.

 

 

Certificate of Origin

 

CO is a document required by some countries which certifies the good’s country of origin. It is used for pricing purposes

 

 

CFR- Cost and Freight

 

Title, risk and insurance cost pass to buyer when delivered on board the ship by seller who pays the transportation cost to the destination port. Used for sea or inland waterway transportation.

 

 

CIF

 

CIF means: “Cost, Insurance and Freight'. CIF describes the total costs of godos including freight charges and insurance.

 

 

Commercial Invoice

 

It is the bill from the seller to the buyer showing the total value of the goods. This document is mandatory for the customs authorities to verify the value of goods

 

 

Consignee

 

Is the person or company who buys a product or service.

 

 

Consignor or Shipper

 

Is the person or company who sells a product or service.

 

 

Consolidation

 

It is the process of shipping several LCL’s into one container.

 

 

Door-to-Door

 

It is the transportation service from one place to another including transportation and customs clearance.

FCA- Free Carrier

 

Title and risk pass to buyer including transportation and insurance cost when the seller delivers goods cleared for export to the carrier.

It is a logistics supplier who coordinate the transportation of goods from a place to another.

 

 

Hazardous Materials (Haz. Mat.)

 

HazMat' are materials considered by the Transportation Department to be a hazard for the health or safety when in transit

 

 

IMO

 

IMO is a document required for Dangerous Goods transportation.

 

 

MR

 

MR means Material Received and is a document sent by the Freight Forwarder, the warehouse or the carrier once the materials have been received by the warehouse.

 

 

NVOC

 

Carriers o Freight forwarders who does not own the transportation infraestructura and supply the LCL service.

 

 

Packing List

 

It is a document that shows a very detailed list of the goods to be shipped out.

 

 

Palletization

 

Palletization is the process of putting together several units of cargo into one pallet (a double-decked wooden platform that’s easy to carry with fork lifters).

 

 

POD

 

“Proof of Delivery' is a document signed by the consignee validating that the cargo has been received as agreed.

 

 

Purchase Order or PO

 

PO is a number given when the goods are purchased.

 

 

SOP

 

“Standard Operating Procedure' is a procedure required when the cargo is being shipped out in order to clarify every step during the shipping process.

 

 

Shipper’s Export Declaration

 

SED means “Shipper`s Export Declaration' It’s an export document needed in the US when the value of cargo is over usd $2,500 and it shows general information about the freight.
